About NYIIB
The New York Institute of Investment Banking is designed for university students with or without business majors and graduates looking to start a career in investment banking, private equity or hedge funds. Our courses were designed by current and former financial professionals to teach students the vocational skills they wished they had been taught in college. Students reinforce their classroom instruction during an internship where the student will work on live deals for a firm on Wall Street.
The course begins with a senior managing director revealing the challenges he overcame on Wall Street and inspiring students to persist through the rigorous class and internship. Accounting, corporate finance and valuation are reviewed early in the course to ensure students possess the basic knowledge requisite to learn advanced financial modeling. Students then learn to build operating financial models, the core skill that every financial analyst needs to master. Discounted cash flow analysis, comparable company analysis and precedent transaction analysis are performed on the operating model to derive a value for the company. Operating models are consolidated to demonstrate the effects of mergers and acquisitions. EBITDA growth, multiple expansion and debt pay down are added to the company's operating model to calculate the return generated from a leveraged buyout transaction. Students will be ready for technical interview questions by the end of the course.
